Candles for Diwali

Delhi-11006..
Dilli 6, that's what my friends used to call me in DPS. How could a pin code define a man? Why do they always say ki tum to purani Dilli ke ho na.... Well now so many years later, with a every increasing waistline & an ever receding hair line I know why... Dilli 6 define me to the T... It has made me what I'm today... A street smart journalist.
Well, will tell you a lot about me in the course of time as we'll meet through this blog, but first what I promised you in the banner of this blog. I'll tell you all about the great places of Purani Dilli which is missed by all those lonely planet guys.. Did you say why... well, because none of them lives here as I do... So, today as this is my first blog, we'll have an auspicious begining.

Tell me what is the one thing that you require most at Diwali. Yes... even in the times of LED lights there nothing to beat the magic of candles. So' if you're planning to buy tonnes of candles then you have to come to.. well you guessed right... Delhi-110006... meri purani Dilli.
There's this small market called KHARI BAOLI near chandni chowk.( for exact directions refer below). This market is bursting at its seams with candle merchants & their wares, & boy do they have designs & variety.
From the plain white candles to all the designer stuff & that too at wholesale rates. You can buy candles in all shapes, color & sizes. ( Will put some photos tomorrow).
Also, if you're looking at some items, then this is the place to head to. You'll get beautiful designer candles as prices you would've never imagined of.
So, if you plan to light up this Diwali, you know the place to head to.

Place- Khari Baoli market near Chandni chowk.
Where- As you reach Fatehpuri Masjid from Chandni chowk, take the road going to the right, towards old delhi railway station.Take first left & then take left again. you'll be in khari Baoli.
How to reach- The best way to reach is by the Metro. Get down at Chandni Chowk station, take a rikshaw or better walk down to the market. Alternatively, you can park your car at old delhi railway station parking , & then walk towards fatehpuri. Khari baoli will be to your right if coming from that side. If you're coming from CP, then take the ,metro & get down at Chawri Bazar. From there just keep going straight towards Lal kuan, you'll reach the market.
Advisory- very, very crowded so only come if you plan to shop in a big way for candles or it'll not be worth the pain.
